As you can see from my weight loss charts, my weight has been generally decreasing. It has been slow and up and down, but as of yesterday (1-13-17) I am 4.9 down at 184.7. It's not too shabby and to have avoided weight gain during the holidays is a great feat!
But.........
I can feel myself slipping and I feel a bit rudderless.
For the first few weeks I was following Weight Watches, then went off plan. Next I avoided sugar for a bit. After that I switched over on January 2 to the Trim Healthy Mama plan. I was very excited about that plan, and yet, not so much anymore. I have intestinal trouble when it comes to eating large amounts of fiber. It's very painful to me and offensive to others...if you catch my drift! Either way, I bought some of the on-plan ingredients (oat fiber = gassy awfulness) and they struck with a vengeance. I also had some quite low carb days, not entirely intentionally, and that just zaps my attitude in the wrong direction the following day. Low carb messes with me.
Now don't get me wrong, Trim Healthy Mama is not a low carb plan, but if you're not careful it can become that. I didn't even make it that except for that one day. For me, that was enough to throw me off. It causes cravings and grumpiness. Not good when your'e a mom!
So I'm considering a few options. For today I will track my food in my food journal.
My options as far as I see them are as follows:
1. Continue with THM and skip the high fiber products such as oat fiber.
2. Switch over to a THM-ish style and just cycle carbs, not worrying about specialty ingredients.
3. Do one form or another of Weight Watchers using free online tools.
4. Follow a low fat diet, eating no more than 40 grams a day and at least 20 grams of fiber a day.
So there you have it.
This year I have told myself that I will not quit at this until I get where I want to be. I would like to lose 20 pounds to feel better and another 20 to look better. Those are my goals. So far I'm down one quarter of my first goal, so not a horrible start!
