Do What Works

For the past three days I have been tracking Points Plus.  Day one was a bit of a big eating day, as I was recovering from some Trim Healthy Mama trauma, LOL!  Overall, though, I'm working the plan nicely.  In reality, there is nothing wrong with THM, but I used it in a way that does not work for my body.  I did a little too much low carb for me, and I added in some of the specialty high fiber ingredients.  So instead of feeling better I felt crappy.  It just turned me off to it.

But...

I committed this year to not quitting.  So I moved from one plan to another. And I did it with peace and freedom.  I feel good that I am not committing myself wholly and undyingly to one plan.  It feels good to have the freedom to switch when I feel it's needed.

I'm down around 5 pounds from my start, and while this has been a slow go of things, it's still a downward trend and I'm not going nuts.  So there's that.

Today my message to you and especially to myself is: do what works!  It doesn't matter if one diet said that the other diet is horrible.  Many diets I do are basically the opposites of other diets.  In the 1990s and early 2000s, I kept my weight at a very reasonable number by eating low fat.  At some point I also lost weight doing low carb.  These diets both tell you basically the opposite things.  I'm ok with that!  That seems nuts and counterproductive, but as long as I'm not switching during the same day, it works!

So my plan is not to worry about the plan, just to have some sort of plan on any given week.  The experts say that the best diet is one you can stick to.   I pick them all!  That's an exaggeration.  I pick various forms of weight watchers, low fat dieting, sugar reduction and Trim Healthy Mama.  For now those are the workable things in my life and I will do whatever appeals to me at any given time.  I will do that which I know I can do and therefore not fail.

Light dawns on marble head.

DO WHAT WORKS.
