Just Another Thursday

Today is a snow day for the kids.  Well, my son is homeschooled. It's a snow day for my daughter anyway.  It's been a little bit of a crazy week.  School was cancelled Tuesday due to ice and Wednesday was a two hour delay because they still needed to clean it up. Today, Thursday, school has been cancelled.  I managed to fit in grocery shopping yesterday because my husband got home at a good time.  Thank goodness!  It's hard to follow a diet plan if you don't have the right food in the house.

I was getting a little burned out for a few days there.  I let a setback last Tuesday sort of spin me out of control.  Mind you it wasn't utter craziness.  I was still stepping on the scale and taking stock of what was going on.  I just knew I needed to shake it up a bit.  All the heavy food from THM was dragging me down and I really wanted to just eat some Standard American food.  Yeah, sounds super healthy, right?

I am actually doing an experiment to see if the collagen supplement was affecting me negatively.  It might not have been, but I'm taking a few weeks off to see if it was causing some symptoms.

I hemmed and hawed thinking I would go back to weight watchers meetings.  There really is no convenient time for me to try and get there, though.  I could try either Saturday or Sunday mornings.  Those days might work.  Either way, I decided to hold off for now and leave it as an option for the future.

After some thought, it seems to me that going back to FlexPoints, an earlier Weight Watchers points system, will work best for me right now.  I gave myself a higher level of points than Weight Watchers would recommend because ravenousness backfires every time.  And yet even with the elevated level of points, I was still hungry yesterday.

My weight bounced up from 182.5 on Sunday to 184.7 on Wednesday, a place I had been back in January and even December.  Not what I was hoping for.  So, after only one day on FlexPoints, it went down to 183.2.  Not back to where I was Sunday, but a start.  And I know normal fluctuations are possible, but I also know I wasn't really eating well.  It is a little disheartening to see a number on the scale you saw more than a month ago.  But, I will persevere.

On another note, I attempted a low fat day on Tuesday.  It was a bit of a disaster and I'm sure the excess carbs led to more glycogen storage and therefore a higher number yesterday.  Yes.  But eating heaping bowls of pasta to the point of bursting because I simply didn't feel satisfied didn't seem like the best idea.  I think I need a more balanced approach, and for now I'm hoping FlexPoints provides that.  If it doesn't, I'll switch.  But, I would like to commit to at least a good run this time.  I want to give it a fair go.

That's it for now.
